I've already heard from several sources who have downloaded the new Star Wars movie over the internet that it totally sucks. Take my advice, keep your $8 and go rent the original Star Wars instead. It's not worth camping out for this one.

Well I hate to say it, but Phantom Menace was a disappointment. All the characters were flat and uninteresting, the plot was stunted and confusing, Jar-jar binks was incredibly annoying, and Darth Maul, the main bad guy in the movie, hardly even had a single line. I could go on, but I don't want to slander the movie too much. It did have some cool scenes, but in the end, I wish Lucas would have put more effort into the movie's soul rather than its special effects.

Woke up at 4:30 this morning. Got in line a little after 5am. I was number 150 in the line but still managed to get tickets for the 12:01am premiere. Word is that Hollywood 27 will be showing The Phantom Menace on 4 screens. My ticket is for screen 16. I've heard one of the screens seats over 400 people, but I don't know which one. Anyway, the camping out in line part was actually a lot more fun than I thought it would be. I made lot of friends and got to eat free donuts and pizza. Not only that, but I also won a trivia contest and got free tickets to Zanies! All the news media was there, and my group got interviewed by InReview and the Tennessean. Unfortunately I didn't meet any other Countdown: Nashville people there except for Invar. Where were you guys? I shouldn't have been too difficult to spot with the blue hair. Oh well, guess I'll see you guys on the 18th. Hope you got good tickets!

Despite rumors to the contrary, Hollywood 27 is now confirmed to be showing Episode I. The first showing will be at 12:01 a.m. May 19th. For those of you who need to know how to get there, it's located in the 100 Oaks Shopping Center off of Thompson Lane. I'll try to post a map up later.

Regal corporate headquarters says that tickets for Episode I will go on sale at the box office at 2:00pm CST, May 12th. Tickets will not go on sale by phone until 3:00pm CST. Thanks for the info, Chris.

Official word is that advance tickets WILL be availble. Lucasfilm has decided that theaters can start selling tickets as early as May 12th. Since Hollywood 27 traditionally sells tickets on a 2-day advanced schedule, that probably means they'll be going on sale on the 17th. Word is that preference will be going to people waiting in line rather than orders placed by phone. I've discussed this situation with the Moff and basically we've decided that it's every man for himself as far as acquiring tickets. There are just too many variables involved to guarentee tickets for the entire group. The official line gathering will be solely for watching the premiere. Everyone must acquire tickets on their own in advance. We'll keep you updated on the ticket situation, and let you know as soon as we've found out for sure when tickets are going on sale. If anyone needs their tickets bought for them, contact me personally by email and we'll work something out.

Countingdown.com has asked me to decide on an official theater and start date so that they can post the information on their site. Since all the email I've received lately has been in support of Hollywood 27, and both the Moff and I agree that this would be the best choice, I've decided to go ahead and set Hollywood 27 as our official line-up theater. I've also set May 18th (the day before the premiere) as our official start date. I know we're probably not all in complete consensus on this, but I think those are probably the most reasonable choices. Any alternate opinions are welcome.

I'm sending out letters today asking for food sponsorships. Is there anything else we need?

Here's a little something to get you psyched up for the big event.

It looks like advance tickets are an unknown variable once again. As The Hollywood Reporter reports, "Fox and Lucasfilm have reversed their policy against advance ticket sales and are working with theater owners to make them happen. Theaters are expected to offer ticket purchases at least one week before the film's May 19 opening." There's a chance this only applies to theaters with pre-existing advance ticket sale contracts, but no one seems to know for sure so we'll just have to wait and see.

In order to disseminate information more efficiently I decided to throw together this web site. Now everyone can just check here for all the latest info regarding the Nashville Star Wars Line-Up. I still encourage everyone to use the messageboard, but if you just want to check on the status of things, this will be the place to look. Any info or suggestions for the site should be sent to kaldari@angelblade.com.
